"In my professional work with GreenCAST, one of the most significant challenges was the fragmentation and lack of visibility of sustainability practices among tourism stakeholders. Although many professionals are taking meaningful action toward sustainable tourism (e.g., reducing energy use, promoting biodiversity, improving waste management), these efforts often go unrecognized by visitors and unmeasured by institutions. Traditional certification systems (like environmental labels) provide partial insights and are not scalable to thousands of businesses. Moreover, many destinations lack the tools to analyze and compare environmental engagement across establishments in a transparent, data-driven way. This gap limits both the promotion of best practices and the mobilization of less engaged actors. "
