Mid- and Top-Level Management Training in Resilience & Sustainability

Description

I am passionate about strengthening resilience, advancing sustainability, and supporting digital adaptation among European tourism SMEs. My academic research explores sustainable tourism practices in Iceland, where I conducted expert interviews to evaluate current strategies and identify future opportunities. At 18, I moved to the UK alone to pursue my education, balancing university studies with part-time work while managing everything independently. This journey has shaped my adaptability, problem-solving skills, and resilience, equipping me with a strong work ethic and the ability to navigate complex challenges. Through my experiences, I am committed to driving sustainable and innovative solutions in the tourism sector.

One key tourism-related challenge I have encountered is the limited digital adaptation among small and medium-sized tourism enterprises (SMEs), particularly in integrating sustainable practices. During my research on Icelandic tourism, experts highlighted that while sustainability is a priority, many SMEs struggle to adopt digital tools that could enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and improve visitor experiences. This challenge matters because digitalization can drive more sustainable operations, optimize resource use, and increase competitiveness. Within the PHOENIX 4.0 Alliance Competition, I would be keen to explore innovative, accessible digital solutions that help tourism SMEs bridge this gap and accelerate their sustainability efforts.
