A key challenge I’ve encountered in my professional experience is the lack of clear and visible accessibility information in the tourism sector. Even when providers offer accessible features—such as step-free museum entry or adapted hotel rooms—they often fail to communicate this through their official channels. As a result, travelers with access needs are left uncertain, discouraged from booking, or unaware that these services even exist. The problem goes deeper: many tourism providers are unsure what kind of accessibility information they should share and how to communicate it effectively. This is largely because they don’t truly understand the needs of travelers with disabilities or limited mobility, and often haven’t identified this group as part of their target market. This gap presents both a challenge and an opportunity for awareness-raising, education, and inclusive innovation within the PHOENIX 4.0 Alliance Competition.
