Mid- and Top-Level Management Training in Resilience & Sustainability

Description

I am a dedicated researcher with a strong passion for strengthening resilience, advancing sustainability, and driving digital adaptation among European tourism SMEs. My expertise lies in integrating sustainable food management practices into the hospitality sector, leveraging Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) principles to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Through my work, I aim to empower businesses with innovative tools and strategies that promote responsible resource use and long-term sustainability. Personally, I am driven by the belief that smart, data-driven solutions can transform the tourism industry into a more resilient and eco-conscious sector, ensuring a positive impact on both businesses and the environment.

"One of the biggest challenges in the tourism sector, particularly for operators offering food services (which accounts for over 90% of establishments, at least for breakfast), is food waste management. A key issue is obtaining primary data on the food products served, as it involves multiple stakeholders, including suppliers and producers. This data is essential for conducting a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of food management in tourism businesses. However, due to fragmented supply chains and varying data transparency, accessing reliable information remains a challenge. Addressing this issue is crucial, as it would enable better resource management, cost optimization, and environmental responsibility. By integrating LCA-based tools, tourism operators can not only improve their sustainability performance but also enhance guest awareness about food waste and encourage more responsible consumption. Tackling this challenge within the PHOENIX 4.0 Alliance Competition would provide an opportunity to develop innovative solutions that support both businesses and consumers in making more informed, eco-conscious decisions."
